School is out. Summer vacation is here.
We have some summer tips for you that will make your lazy days of summer safer and cooler!
Some Tips for Summer
- Make your pool safe
Make sure your back door locks and is able to keep any little children from reaching the pool unaccompanied. Also, let’s double check any gate latches you have in your fence to make sure kids, pets, and wildlife don’t enter in by mistake. - Stay hydrated
If you’re going to be in the outdoors this summer, make sure to pre-hydrate and keep drinking water while you’re outside. You need more water in our heat than you think! - Replace weather stripping
With the heat of summer looming, you’ll want to make sure that all your weather stripping is in good shape and prepared to keep as much hot air out of your home as possible. - Install curtains at windows
If you have windows that receive lots of sun, consider installing some curtains to help keep the heat of the sun out during the hottest parts of the day. - Check the ceiling
Do you have can lights or any holes in the ceiling drywall? If so, now is the perfect time to seal around the can lights and fix those holes. Anything you can do to keep that hot air out will help. - Install ceiling fans
Speaking of ceilings, why not install a ceiling fan to help reduce the heat in your rooms? Or, upgrade the fans you currently have installed. - Make your thermostats smart
Now would be a great time to replace a traditional thermostat with a smart thermostat. Program your AC unit to come on exactly when you want it to. - Secure your home
Planning on taking a break from the heat to visit the high country, or a cooler state? Keep your home safe while you’re away by installing a camera doorbell or camera flood lights. Also, consider installing indoor cameras to keep an eye on your house while you’re away.
